The Hudson College of Public Health provides quality graduate and professional education for both public health practice professionals and research scientists. The OU Hudson College of Public Health is one of only 67 accredited schools of public health in the United States. A multi-disciplinary faculty prepares students for public health practice in the following core areas:
- Biostatistics & Epidemiology
- Health Administration & Policy
- Health Promotion Sciences
- Occupational & Environmental Health
In addition, doctoral programs prepare public health research scientists in each of the core areas. The College conducts classes at the OU Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City and OU Schusterman Center in Tulsa. The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Hudson College of Public Health ensures that program expectations, learning objectives, and educational outcomes offered at the Oklahoma City campus and Tulsa campus are consistent. Program outcomes between the OKC campus and Tulsa campus are evaluated yearly by course directors and the associate dean for academic affairs and are reported to the dean of the college.
An active research program greatly enhances the academic environment of the college. Studies in issues as varied as air quality, teen pregnancy prevention, cardio-vascular disease prevention, obesity prevention, and tobacco use prevention are ongoing. The college also has major initiatives related to American Indian Health. The Oklahoma Public Health Training Center works with organizations across the state to provide education and training to the public health workforce.
The OU Hudson College of Public Health has strong working partnerships with state, national and international health agencies. Students have rich opportunities for both fieldwork experiences and multidisciplinary projects.
Accreditation and Strategic Planning
Integrated planning connects the self-study processes to the strategic planning processes, allowing us to leverage accreditation standards as a tool to guide and monitor our strategic plan and demonstrates our commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
CEPH Accreditation
In November 2023, the Hudson College of Public Health will host a CEPH peer review team for a comprehensive site visit and review of re-accreditation status. This 7-year re-accreditation cycle and extensive self-study provides a qualitative and quantitative assessment of how well the College achieves its mission, goals and objectives and meets the accreditation criteria.
CAHME Accreditation
The Master of Health Administration program, in the Department of Health Administration and Policy, is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). In October of 2023 the Hudson College of Public Health will host a CAHME peer review team for a comprehensive site visit.
ABET Accreditation
The Master of Science (M.S.) program in Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Health Sciences is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET. ABET is considered the hallmark of excellence for industrial hygiene education. In October of 2023 the Hudson College of Public Health will host an ABET peer review team for a comprehensive site visit.
