Accelerated BSN

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program is tailored for individuals who want to pursue a career in nursing and already have a bachelor’s or higher degree in a non-nursing major. The nursing curriculum is 60 credit hours of courses incorporating theoretical and clinical content and designed to be completed in 14 months of concentrated study. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (the NCLEX-RN ®). Cost

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they are enrolled in the prescribed courses and to pay tuition and fees at the time designated by the Bursar's Office. Details regarding tuition/fee charges and collection are available from the Bursar's Office.

Admission Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Completion of 61 credit hours of prerequisite coursework
  • The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) is on a semester credit- hour system. Students transferring coursework from an institution on trimester or quarter-hour systems should contact an advisor to determine how the coursework will transfer. All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
  • At least 30 hours of prerequisites must be completed at the time of application.
• Cumulative grade point average of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • OUHSC considers all coursework regardless of academic forgiveness granted by other institutions.
  • Each attempt of any course taken will be calculated into the GPA.
• Science grade point average (SGPA) of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • At least two of the four laboratory science prerequisites must be completed prior to application.
  • Four laboratory sciences required are: General Chemistry, Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Human Physiology.
  • All science courses are factored into this GPA.

Accelerated BSN

Below are the required prerequisite courses for the Accelerated BSN program. Prerequisite courses are not required to be completed at time of application, but must be completed prior to BSN enrollment if admitted.
